Pomodoros Revived

I logged into my laptop a couple mornings ago to find that a couple pieces of software stopped working. Evidently they started triggering issues in the Falcon agent (meaning it was unhappy with something it was doing).

Codewars: Vowel Count

Return the number (count) of vowels in the given string. We will consider a, e, i, o, u as vowels for this Kata (but not y). The input string will only consist of lower case letters and/or spaces.

VR Workouts

I had a pretty decent run going where I’d get to the gym early in the morning before they opened and swim (basically doggy paddle, who am I kidding?) in the lap pool for a half hour. Then I’d head into the sauna until I got too hot to handle it and then I was out of there. Toward the end I had added a little resistance training. When Omicron came down and triple-vaxxed people started bringing it home to their unvaxxed kids, I decided to throw that on pause.

Getting Started

I’ve been doing coffee chats with people doing the #100dev group lately. It’s been really interesting and the common thread among them is that they’re looking for what they should be doing to get into the industry. I always point them to roadmap.sh because it’s amazing and the person running it has added sections for front-end, back-end, devops, and everything in between. There are even a few of them at are coming soon that cover things like AWS.

Codewars: Printer Errors

In a factory a printer prints labels for boxes. For one kind of boxes the printer has to use colors which, for the sake of simplicity, are named with letters from a to m.

Mac Assign Desktop

I don’t know why this took me so long to discover, but you can assign an application to a specific desktop (or even all of them) so that when the app launches it goes where it’s supposed to.

Recurring Zoom

There’s nothing quite like the panic that sets in when you think you’ve destroyed a Zoom meeting that you’re using in a dozen upcoming coffee chats. Of course I did this about 10 minutes the next coffee chat so the person joining was extra confused. Shout out to Chanel Rene for helping me unravel what I’d done.

Learn With Me

Previously I had a blog at mrxinu.com and it didn’t get updated very often (read: not at all). I’m starting afresh here with this blog with the goal of writing something every other day at minimum about something I’ve learned or am in the midst of learning.
